Midway between Seattle and Spokane is an amphitheater which has been named one of the most scenic concert venues in both the nation and in the world.
Located in rural central Washington State, The Gorge Amphitheater overlooks Washington’s magnificent Columbia River. Since then, it has hosted such performers as Steely Dan, The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Cocker, Sting, Aerosmith, The Who, Shania Twain and Brittney Spears. Other bands have included Blink 182, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Phish and The Dead. Regular performers at The Gorge include the Dave Matthews Band. The Band’s album, Live at the Gorge, is a 3-disc compilation of their 2004 outdoor performance at the amphitheater. In 2008, the Band returned to the venue, giving their first scheduled performance since the tragic death of saxophone player and founding member, LeRoi Moore. The Dave Matthews Band’s next performance at The Gorge is scheduled for September 5, 2009. In addition to its regular performers, the amphitheater annually hosts the Sasquatch! Music Festival and the Vans Warped Tour (which showcases music genres such as punk and alternative rock, emo, metalcore and Christian rock). Hotel Accommodatios in North Central WashingtonAlthough some concert-goers like to camp nearby the venue, hotel accommodations can also be found in the neighboring areas of Moses Lake, Ellensburg, or Wenatchee, Washington. It is best to plan at least an hour’s drive to any one of these locations. Within walking distance of The Gorge are The Cave B Estate Winery and the Cave B Inn. Offering a wide variety of wines crafted from renowned Washington state grapes, the Cave B Winery is known especially for its reds, including a Bordeaux blend and a Syrah.
